Unveiling the Edifice Crochet Bag Pattern: A Stylish Make in Moorit Magazine

Edifice Bag is a crochet bag based on a hexagonal block with a design that makes it appear like a 3d cube. It has a shoulder strap and long tassel charm and is 3 blocks high by 4 blocks wide. The model carrying it is looking into it with a smile

I am really pleased to be able to let you know that last week, pre-orders opened for Moorit magazine Issue 6 which includes my Edifice crochet bag pattern. It’s a motif based design inspired by the popular Tumbling Blocks patchwork motif that has a three dimensional look and the bag is very roomy and sturdy. Just the type I love to use in summer.

It was was so enjoyable to make. I was quite sad when it was finished ready to be sent off! The simple stitch repeat and motif method make this a fun project with interesting three dimensional look texture. I was really motivated to work the last round on each one and hold it away.

My inspiration for this project comes from the popular patchwork design tumbling blocks. I tried my hand at patchwork and quilting in my teens but in the end dressmaking won outas my main hobby until I learnt to knit and crochet!

I set to work swatching and sketching and a few days later I sent it in to Moorit's call for design submissions. I was so excited learn that my design had been chosen!

I really enjoyed working with the lovely shades of the Nurturing Fibres Eco Cotton DK yarn and seeing the block design work up gradually. colours Moorit selected were really successful for a flat block that looks three dimensional. I am excited to make a small project with the leftover scrap yarn too.

Seeing the final magazine was lovely. The photographs in this issue are so lively and there are so many amazing patterns by other designers that really appeal to me.

Do let me know if you make the bag or maybe something else using the motif). I'm always so excited when I see that someone has used one of my patterns! I love to get comments on my blog too, so let me know your thoughts on the design or ask any questions you have below.
