I am excited to let you know that my new lace crochet shawl pattern is now available on the Knit Fever Inc website. It’s a pretty shawl that is perfect to use as an extra layer on summer .
It was was a relaxing and enjoyable make to work up, with a simple repeat and easy stitches, it only requires attention when turning. It also grows very fast as it's mostly made of chains!
As you can see, the pattern looks like stars in one direction and stacked boxes in the other. I picked up the idea of the starry appearance and added small stars with a central sparkly bead to add a decorative note to the end borders before trimming them with a simple fringe I think it will be a versatile accessory as it could look perfect with eveningwear all year round but also work well as a more casual accessory during warm weather when you want something just to cover your shoulders and also as a scarf with a coat during cold weather. There are no rules though. What do you think? I'd love to know how you'd wear it if you'd like to leave me a comment below.
The Mirasol Pima Paka cotton yarn was just perfect for the stitch pattern and resulted in a great drape for the finished item. It blocked beautifully and looks great even after being rolled up so would work well for travel accessories. It was great to crochet with too, smooth and soft, so it sped through my hands an worked up fast without making my hands ache like some cotton yarns can. I asked if I could buy the remaining skein rather than retuning it as I liked it so much and had a bag in mind that I could make with it and was delighted when I was told I could keep it!
Seeing the final photos on the site was lovely. The model wore the finished piece with a black strappy dress and simple, classic jewellery and the photographs showed the drape and stitch pattern really well.
