Introducing Cherry Lattice Scarf crochet pattern

It’s a joyful looking design for a bold accessory, although it could also look great with a more subtle colour scheme, e.g. using a gradient of light to dark shades of the same colour or as a joyfully multicolour scrap yarn project. The stitch pattern is easy and relaxing to work with plenty of interest from working the bobbles throughout and motivation from seeing the pattern build in alternating colour rows.
If you like the overall design but the length or width isn't quite right for you or you don't like this type of yarn or the tasselled border, you'll be pleased to know that I've added customisation tips to help you get the scarf or wrap you really want. I'd be excited to see how yours turned out whether you make it exactly the same as mine or add your own personal touch to the design.

The Cherry Lattice Scarf has an unusual shape created by the stitch pattern and is really adaptable for different occasions and outfits. I could equally see this being worn, made in cosy woollen yarn with a winter coat or in the smooth cotton and silk mohair used in the sample to set off a classic wedding guest outfit and of course, it could certainly work well over another handmade like a pullover or jacket.

The simple stitch repeat and alternating colours and yarn type makes this a fun project with interesting texture. I was really motivated to complete the bobbles on each cotton row!

My inspiration for this project comes from a delicious pastry treat; the cherry and almond lattice danish pastry that is sold in Waitrose supermarkets! Of course I had to buy one so I could take a picture for this blog post, in case you don't get them where you live! And maybe I'll have a go at making my own if our cherry tree has a generous harvest this year. I can see lots of blossoms starting to burst open in the spring sunshine.

I set to work swatching and sketching and came up with the colourful design and here are the colours of Drops yarn I was sent to create the finished piece.

I really enjoyed working with the lovely shades of Drops Safran mercerised cotton yarn and their fluffy Kid-Silk yarn and seeing the lattice design come to life. I noticed that working with high contrast colours like light blue and deep pink is often really successful for me when designing multicolour projects. Drops yarns tend to have a huge range of colours too, so you're sure to find a combination you like if light blue and deep pink isn't your style.
