What is the Kiss Under the Mistletoe Free Mosaic Crochet Chart?

Hanging mistletoe in our hallway by the front door is a favourite part of the Christmas preparations each year, reminding me of loved ones coming to visit and welcoming them there with a kiss, so when I saw Nichola's invitation to design for The Four Seasons Mix and Match mosaic panel MAL, I knew my panel should feature some.

Mistletoe is so pretty with its curling oval leaves and pearly white berries and I think it’s often overlooked as a festive symbol in favour of brighter, spikier holly sprigs, so I wanted to feature it in my mosaic panel as a symbol of winter and Christmas celebrations.

I have to say I enjoyed the way the slender branches and leaf and berry clusters provide a good mix of frequent colour change rows and infrequent ones as you work through this design. I also introduced a few small asymmetrical elements to the design to keep its appearance organic if repeated and I hope you’ll enjoy it too. I do wonder if this is a specifically British tradition and isn't a well known plant in some other countries. What is The Four Seasons Mix and Match Mosaic Panel MAL?

This event is centred around a collection of 13 overlay mosaic crochet motifs inspired by the changing seasons and designed by a group of crochet designers to be completely compatible with each other when used in any order to make all kinds of homewares, such as blankets, cushions, tableware and accessories like scarves and bags too. My design, Kiss under the Mistletoe is one of four Winter inspired panels.

Eight of the thirteen designs will be made available in chart from on their designers' blogs to use FREE of charge from the 1st October. For those who prefer written instructions or simply like to have a set of instructions in a single, ad-free, downloadable, printable format, there are also two options available on the Elimee Designs website.
