Relax and Hook Free Pattern Event

Are you looking to start some relaxing crochet projects this autumn?

Maybe you're in need of patterns for quick and easy gifts as the holiday season approaches or want to make the most of the evenings as we lose the light in the northern hemisphere or perhaps you'd like to crochet to take your mind off the stresses of work or family life. I'm so excited to be participating in the Relax and Hook event this September, along with around twenty other designers and the host Deanne from the Small but Kinda Mighty blog, and to have the opportunity to share a free pattern with you when it's my turn. Read on to find out how to get a free pattern for a mindful make each day in the coming month and if you can't wait that long, you could even choose to to get all the patterns as an ebook at a huge discount.

The patterns are all:

  • simple, repetitive, meditative designs

  • one or two row/round repeats

  • easy to make

  • either made in one piece, or require no tricky sewing or seaming

How to join the event and get your free patterns daily

There are several options, so you can choose whichever one is the best for you:

Email reminders

Deanne will be sharing details of the Relax and Hook patterns and bonuses as daily mailouts if you sign up for her email newsletter and make sure you check the box labelled "September 2022 Relax and Hook event".

Check the Small but Kinda Mighty blog each day

Each day Deanne will post on her blog details of a new pattern that will be available as a FREE PDF download from 8am (Eastern time) that day till 8am (Eastern time) the next day. Just follow the link to the designer’s website where they will share how to download the pattern for free.

Join the event on Facebook

you can join Deanne's Facebook group. It's a small (but kinda mighty!) community of crocheters who share crochet related news, works-in-progress, finished objects and more.

* Please note that the link is an affiliate link and so, at no extra cost to you, I receive a higher proportion of the cost if you purchase after using it than if you purchase via another means. I use this type of income to cover website costs, including offering occasional free patterns on the site to thank you.

This ebook will only be available to the general public for the month of September 2022. Once it's gone, it's gone!

Which Made with Love and Fibres pattern is on offer?

I imagine those signed up to my mailing list have already guessed as I dropped a few hints in the August newsletter (visit my subscribe page to sign up if you're not already receiving it!) Yes, that's right, it's the Clarion Multiway Scarf! It can be worn in so many ways that you'll feel like you got more than one pattern. Scroll through the gallery to see!

The scarf is designed to mimic a yoked cowl for a snug fit around the neck, shoulders and chest yet be more flexible in fit and styling, especially if you have a small brooch you can use to fasten it. You can also look through the photos in my previous posts at some of the options I came up with already. I'm sure you have more ideas too! Do share any that you think I should try.

It's also the perfect project to unwind with. It has just 2 simple rows repeated with no seaming, increases, decreases etc. and is easy to follow visually from the previous row without counting or checking the pattern. The extra long stitches in the frill feel meditative to work and the switch from normal to front loop stitches with each row ensures you adjust hand position and wrist angle to avoid wrist ache if working for a long period of time.

What now?

I'm so excited for this event for both the amazing patterns and the new connections with designers and makers. If you're looking forward to it as well, please share this post on social media so others can participate and don't forget to share the results of your finished makes with the designers if you are happy to; it's such a big thrill to see what is made using our patterns or to hear the story of why you made it and how it will be used.
