Get Ready to Join the 2026 Free Knit and Crochet Washcloth Make-along

Three colorful crocheted washcloths in lime, purple, brown, and red on a white surface, showcasing textured knitting and crochet patterns and hanging loops.

My heart shaped Endearment Washcloth was so popular when I released it in January , that I decided it would be fun to share a free washcloth pattern every month and invite my friends who subscribe to my newsletter to make them along with me as a Free Knit and Crochet Washcloth Make-along.

Pink knitted heart with white lace border, set on a purple background. Knitting needles and yarn are partially visible.

I find crafting is much more fun and much more likely to get done when you do it with friends. Of course I want both knitters and crocheters to be able to join us, so I'll be rotating through knit, regular crochet and Tunisian crochet designs through the year. What do you think? Would you like to join in?

A Gift for You

If you love making washcloths, and would like a FREE washcloth pattern every month in 2026 in both UK and US terminology plus with a full video for the pattern, join my mailing list on this sign up page to get notified when each one is ready to make and you'll also get a copy of my sign-up gift, "The Yarncrafter’s Guide to Creating Sturdy Bags", a workbook with lots of tips, experiments and tests for yarns, tools, stitches etc. to help find the best ones for projects that would benefit from being more sturdy, whether that's a bag, a storage basket or a garment that needs to keep crisp lines or avoid sagging.

What happens in the Free Knit and Crochet Washcloth Make-along?

Two skeins of cotton yarn, aqua and lilac, with Tunisian crochet in progress on a wooden hook, form a colorful pattern against a white background.

Everyone signed up to my mailing list and each month will get a link to the new pattern for that month. Here are some of the highlights:

Members' Social Area: If you use Ravelry, join the Washcloth thread in the Made with Love and Fibres Ravelry group. I'm excited to see your washcloths!

Social Media: You can also share your makes on social media, like Instagram, Ravelry or Facebook with the tag #washclothalong2026 so we can all see what you're making. I'd love it if you'd tag @madewithloveandfibres too (or add the pattern name to your project page if it's Ravelry) so I get notified. I'm just so excited to see everyone's results!

Share the fun with crafty friends: If any of your friends want to join in, feel free to give them the link to sign up too: the more the merrier!

Newsletter Updates: I'll also share some of the participant photos in each month's newsletter or update.

What else should we do? If there are other activities you enjoy during make-along events, let me know in the comments section below and maybe we can try those too.

How can I join in?

Join my mailing list on this sign up page to get notified when each one is ready to make and you'll get a link in your confirmation email to view the latest newsletter with the links to the three most recent designs.

Then, if you'd like to join the chat, the Washcloth thread in the Made with Love and Fibres Ravelry group. You can share your results there or use the hashtag #washclothalong2026 on Ravelry, Instagram or Facebook.

What materials do I need to participate?

Colorful yarn balls in a basket on a wooden table with knitting needles, a crochet hook, silver scissors, and a wooden button.

I'm typically using the following for each of the washcloths but you don't have to. The washcloths are great for cotton scrap yarn leftovers from other projects

Yarnsmiths Cotton Aran; Aran/worsted weight: 80m (88 yd) per 50g skein; 100% cotton in two shades, usually around 10-50 m /10-45 yds

4mm/US 6 knitting needles for working flat and in the round

4.5mm/US G+/7 crochet hook for the regular crochet designs (a 5mm/H/8 hook should be fine too)

6mm/US J/10 straight shaft crochet hook for the Tunisian crochet designs

Yarn needle and scissors

Some designs may require a locking stitch marker

Which patterns will I get?

Each pattern will be available FREE here on my website (in both UK and US terminology for crochet patterns) plus with a video for the pattern so as many people as possible can make it. Printable versions of the pattern will be available on Ravelry.
